Holiday Greetings from the East

It is December and we seem to be experiencing temperatures and precipitation appropriate and usual for this time of year. I do feel better about the sunny cold days we are experiencing now. The shortened day length is starting to get to me. It is time for me to toughen up and endure for a couple of months to get to a better place with more daylight and brighter outlook.

At the November stated meeting we elected officers for the ensuing Masonic year and the results are;

  • Worshipful Master – W. B. Jim Munson
  • Senior Warden – W. B. Alin Popescu
  • Junior Warden – W. B. Bob Richardson
  • Treasurer – W. B. Mike Smith
  • Secretary – W. B. Joe Watson

December started with Christmas spirit as we delivered poinsettias to our Masonic widows and shut-in Masons. Next was the George Washington Masonic Center annual Christmas party with Santa, food and presents. Our Lodge brought food and beverages and holiday wishes. The next activity is our stated meeting on the 9th followed by the installation of officers for the next Masonic year. Please check the attached calendar for additional important dates.

December is traditionally about ending and beginnings. We celebrate an end to the calendar year and many take stock of the achievements and disappointments. The day length reaches the shortest point and begins to lengthen. The biggest celebration of the year is reserved for the birth of a baby two thousand years ago. While you enjoy the celebration, the lights, the food, the party and your family, don’t forget the reason for the season.

Please make every effort to attend our stated meeting and installation. Don’t forget the beginning of our new Masonic year kicks off on December 27th, St. John’s Day. One last time this year I ask you to send us a special man you know. Good men becoming Masons is what we are about.

See you Saturday December 9th.

Merry Christmas,

Jim Munson W.M.
