Greetings from the East,
Seeing so much sunshine and mild temperatures at the end of October was a welcome treat. Do you remember
October last year? It was the third wettest October on record in the Portland area. I am expecting more rain and colder temperatures in November so it is time to break out the heavy jackets and put away the summer shorts and sandals. Don’t forget that daylight savings time ends on Sunday November 5th so plan to set your clocks back.
On October 30th we held a Fellow Craft degree at Kenton Lodge for Brother Sean Carver. There were several memorable moments and we are grateful to our Kenton Brothers for their expertise and hospitality. There is some excitement in the lodge as we prepare for the Master Mason degree in the near future.
November is a busy month of notably important dates. Chronologically, Tuesday November 7th is election day and although the ballot will contain only local concerns, it is still important that you vote. Next is Veterans Day on Saturday the 11th (same day as our stated meeting). Please find a way to celebrate and appreciate our Veterans both living and past. We also celebrate the harvest of the earth on the fourth Thursday of this month. Thanksgiving is an official day we set aside for family and the many blessings we enjoy but why not be grateful every day? Statistics show that people who are grateful daily tend to be happier and less stressed than others.
November stated meeting is the time we vote for our slate of Lodge officers. Choose wisely and focus on the best interest of Masonry and Sunnyside Lodge. Following our meeting we will be feasting with a hardy harvest meal, so plan on attending the November stated meeting. Our planning and practice meeting usually held on the fourth Thursday will be rescheduled to another date.
Please make every effort to attend our stated meeting and please keep lodge recruitment in the forefront of your mind.
See you Saturday November 11th.
